Friday 16 January 2015 18:45 – 20:00 | Birkbeck, U. of London | Malet Street, London, WC1E 7HX
Andrew not only led the Government Economic and Social Research Team at HM Treasury for the last decade but also had overall responsibility for the professional development of 3000 analysts.
The session will also cover the GES Fast Stream – the GES graduate talent management programme. It is ranked among the top ten Times “Top 100 Graduate “Employers”. The Analytical route within the Fast Stream is aimed specifically at candidates with the drive and determination to make a career as:
• an Economist in the Government Economic Service or
• an Operational Research Analyst in the Government Operational Research Service or
• a Social Researcher in the Government Social Research Service or
• a Statistician in the Government Statistical Service
Each of these disciplines requires different skills and backgrounds – but all deliver first-rate analysis to ensure that the delivery of government services is as effective as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for senior undergraduate and graduate students “to get in touch” with the GES. The Government Economic Service also includes a small number of Diplomatic Service opportunities.
Please note that the recruitment freeze announced soon after the coalition Government came to power is still in operation and Civil Service recruitment has significantly reduced the number of specific jobs being advertised. However, so far, for 2014/15 recruitment into graduate schemes we know that Fast Stream, and HM Treasury, and the Defence Engineering and Science Group (pending) recruitment will go ahead.
