Your Team

You will be part of the Executional Domain Services Division in the Directorate General Information Systems. Our Directorate has around 35 staff providing IT solutions and services, as well as functional support for activities in the fields of market operations, risk management, payment systems and banknotes.

In your role as Business Analysis Expert, you will be part of a project team responsible for IT project delivery and service coordination, ensuring that the solutions and services delivered meet the business objectives and the required quality standards while working closely with the relevant business areas and service providers.

Your Role

As a Business Analysis Expert you will:

  • facilitate and support the definition of business cases;
  • elicit, analyse and define business requirements;
  • model business processes;
  • create conceptual and logical data models;
  • document and manage functional and non-functional requirements;
  • prepare test cases, coordinate and conduct functional tests and compile test results;
  • support the drafting of procurement materials for tendering processes.

You demonstrate a high degree of customer orientation when working with business areas to understand their needs for IT support and craft appropriate solutions.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential:

  • a master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information technology, business administration, economics or another relevant field (for details on degree equivalences, read more);
  • an understanding of basic economic and financial principles;
  • knowledge of the formal techniques and methods involved in requirements engineering and the ability to quickly pick up requirements management tools (e.g. HP ALM and Jira)
  • advanced drafting and communication skills;
  • experience in the implementation of data-related services and applications, with a focus on the development and optimisation of ETL (extract, transform, load) processes
  • working knowledge of relational databases;
  • knowledge of Hadoop, Python or R;
  • basic professional experience of SQL and XML;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, read more.

Desired:

  • work experience in requirements engineering within the financial sector;
  • professional experience in modelling business processes and data, including the design and use of tools such as ARIS;
  • an understanding of IT project management methodologies, including agile approaches;
  • experience with Tableau;
  • knowledge of Excel and VBA scripts.

Further Information

For one position: the contract offered will be fixed-term until 30.06.2022 which may be extended subject to individual performance and organisational needs.

For the second position: the contract offered will be fixed-term until 30.09.2021 which may be extended subject to individual performance and organisational needs.

Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non-convertible fixed-term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment.

The recruitment process for this position may include an online interview via WebEx in the pre-selection stage and – if you are invited to participate in the subsequent selection procedure – a written exercise, a presentation and interviews.
