About The Job

Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our products have important economic and societal impacts, and the company has long recognized that with success comes scrutiny. Google has welcomed this scrutiny and has engaged with governments and regulatory bodies in a variety of contexts.

As a Competition Economist, you'll work on economic aspects of legal and regulatory proceedings involving Google. You will work closely with the company’s Legal and Policy teams, helping them refine Google’s position in various cases, respond to government agencies’ queries and data requests, and prepare evidence for court filings.

Beyond playing a role in such proceedings, you'll be a thought leader, helping Google engage in the key debates touching on the technology sector from an economic perspective. This is a unique opportunity to be at the center of some of the most important policy issues of our day.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the collection and analysis of data in the context of regulatory and litigation proceedings.
  • Work cross-functionally with our Legal, Finance and Policy teams on economic analyses to inform Google’s positions.
  • Perform rigorous testing and verification of economic assumptions.

Google is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements. See also Google's EEO Policy and EEO is the Law. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let us know by completing this form .
