We have an exciting opportunity for a Data/Analytics Engineer to join the Oxford Genomics Centre (OGC), at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be responsible for developing solutions for managing high-throughput genomic data in a proactive group that focuses on exceptional service, seeking new challenges to solve and new technologies to exploit. You will maintain the production and development servers for the LIMS, including backup/recovery plans and management of hardware and software upgrades, provide data import/export between LIMS and CRM systems and to develop additional modules such as inventory/sample/bioinformatics tracking databases. You will contribute to the development of web interfaces for the management of OGC projects, including designing and building a front-end user interface with status reports and interactivity, and write clean, efficient and readable code for the management and processing of high-throughput genomic data.
It is essential that you hold a degree in computer science, software development or subject involving extensive computer programming. You will have a track record of crafting high-quality software, and experience in at least one high-level programming language, preferably Python, experience of Linux systems and shell scripting, and experience of relational database management systems, preferably PostgreSQL. You will have knowledge of modern web standards – HTML5, CSS, Javascript and experience. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to interact well with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
