Frontier’s Communications practice advises regulators and companies globally across some of the most topical and high-profile policy, regulatory, competition and strategic issues of the day. In doing so, we help our clients navigate change driven by underlying advances in technology, market structure and consumer behaviour.

About the role:

We are currently looking for an exceptional candidate to join our communications practice to support our continuing growth. Applicants are required to have gained experience within the telecom sector which could be in a consultancy, regulator or an operator. Regulation and / or competition experience is desirable, however we will also consider applications from those who have gained broader experience in the sector.

From our offices in Europe the practice serves clients across the globe. Recent project includes:

  • Advising the UK government on how to stimulate investment in full fiber and 5G networks.
  • Producing a business plan for an operator for a government tender to construct rural fiber networks in Ireland.
  • Advising on the competition clearance for the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular in India and for the proposed Three / O2 merger in the UK.
  • Assisting a South African mobile operator in their response to government proposals for major reform of the telecoms sector.
  • Advising the regulator in the British Virgin Islands on future spectrum policy to support future mobile developments.
  • Advising the regulator in Mexico on the break-up of Telmex into separate network and retail businesses.

About you:

We expect the successful candidate to have the ability to apply a range of microeconomics tools to telecoms issues. You should have a BSc with a focus on Economics and ideally a Masters level qualification. You will be able to communicate complex economic arguments in non-technical language, and to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues. As this position is located in our Madrid office, applicants must be fluent in Spanish.
