Within our competition practice, we work closely with clients and legal counsel, providing a mix of strategic advice and technical support. We assist in pre-empting issues, in producing and responding to technical analysts, in preparing client submissions and expert reports and in giving oral evidence.

Position: Economic Consultant - Competition

About the role:

We are currently looking for an exceptional candidate to join our competition practice. Applicants are required to have at least 2 – 4 years’ experience gained within an economics consultancy or regulator. Competition experience is desirable however we will also consider applications from those who have gained broader experience and have a keen interest to specialise in competition.

Some recent work of the practice includes advising on:

  • Mergers across Europe and beyond including, Tesco / Booker, Lufthansa / AirBerlin, Vodafone / Idea India, Just Eat / Hungryhouse and London Stock Exchange / Deutsche Börse.
  • Acting as expert witnesses in damages claims in courts across Europe in cases such as Secretary of State for Health vs Servier, ABB vs National Grid.
  • Advising parties on Article 101 and 102 investigations by both the European Commission and national competition regulators, such as Euribor, Credit Default Swaps and Movies on Pay TV.
  • Advising on the banking, energy and investment consulting market investigations.

About you:

We expect the successful candidate to have the ability to apply a range of microeconomics tools to business issues. Therefore you should have at least a BSc with a main focus in Economics and a MSc in Economics.

You will also be able to communicate complex economic arguments in non-technical language, and to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues. We are offering a highly competitive salary package plus bonus and benefits.

You may have experience of the following: Economic Advisor, Economist, Commercial Analyst, Business Economics, Economic Consultant, Regulatory Affairs, Regulatory Consultant, etc.
