The School of Economics is one of eight schools within the Business School that comprises 50 staff from all over the world. About you

Level B Academic (Lecturer) is expected to make contributions to teaching in the School and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her scholarly research and professional activities.

Level C Academic (Senior Lecturer) is expected to make significant contributions towards the teaching and learning effort of the School. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and professional activities.

Level B and C Academics are expected to:

  • Undertake research activities, and be involved in professional activities relevant to the School;
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses (preparation and delivery of lectures and/or seminars and tutorials);
  • Supervise and monitor the progress of students, to provide consultation to students, to mark assignments, mid-session and final examinations as allocated by the School;
  • Initiate and develop innovative teaching and learning, including blended and online/digital approaches, and in curriculum development with the support of senior academics;
  • Coordinate a range of administrative functions the majority of which are connected with the subjects in which the academic teaches;
  • Supervise major honours or postgraduate research projects as well as the program of study of honours students and of postgraduate students engaged in course work;
  • Participate in School and Faculty meetings;
  • Demonstrate and promote the Business School values of innovation, excellence, positive impact, respect, collegiality and integrity;
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
  • Ability to teach into postgraduate and executive education programs
