About the role:
We have a rare opportunity for an Economist to join our new team and provide economic insight and thought leadership on in-work poverty.
Designing a programme of economic analysis, you will offer insight to increase the nation’s understanding of poverty and policies to solve poverty. Commissioning and managing research from external organisations to deliver the Economics Unit’s programme of analysis and insight, you will increase the organisation’s understanding and use economic thinking in its commentary, research and advocacy.
It’s not right that millions of people are locked in poverty in the UK and that’s why we’ve made it our mission to solve it. JRF’s new strategy will work alongside our partners to build public and political will for change and the demand for solutions.
About you:
We are looking for someone who has previous experience of using data for economic analysis, coupled with an interest in social policy, UK poverty and an understanding of the political environment in which social policy decisions are taken. With the ability to draw policy conclusions from economic analysis, you will be a good communicator who has a passion for personal development.
You will have a strong data analysis skillset and will be able to work with other members of a team, ensuring quality and replicability of analysis.
Women are under-represented in this area of work and are encouraged to apply. All applications will be treated equally.
About us:
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is a social change organisation with a 100-year history. We are built on trust, show we care, and exist to make a difference.
We work with others to put forward sector-leading research, evidence, solutions and stories to the UK’s influencers and decision-makers.
We believe that a prosperous poverty-free UK is within reach - we just need more people to believe it too.
To make our vision a reality we need talent, ideas, skills and passion, plus we need to change some of what we do and how we do it. So, we’re embarking on a significant period of change - change that will see us become an outcomes-focused organisation that embraces new ways of working and modern practices.
If you share our passion, then we need to hear from you.
