Our outputs give top investors and occupiers access to clearer insights on market behaviors to inform their biggest real estate investment decisions. This pursuit has been a priority at CBRE in EMEA for 10+ years and we could use your help in developing the next generation of datasets and models.
We are looking for an economist/econometrician to join our small team. As a Senior Analyst you will be required to use your skills in econometrics and applied economics to continuously improve and design models to anticipate and illustrate the evolving and complex relationships between the economy and real estate performance. Your work will directly to enhance the EMEA Research offering used by investors, occupiers, and CBRE transaction professionals as they make decisions or recommendations around managing real estate portfolios. You will be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of economic principles including microeconomics, macroeconomics, market structure and externalities within the context of commercial real estate.
Successful candidates must be able to maintain quarterly forecasting workflows, apply regular tests to achieve continuous model improvement, analyse relevant data to make substantial contributions to the team’s quarterly presentations and commentary.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and maintain sector relevant economic and property datasets. Contribute to research aimed at improving CBRE’s data methodologies.
- Liaise with sector specialists and research teams on data and forecasts, incorporate sentiment from key internal stakeholders.
- Present forecasting outputs to internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Write economic and property market commentary, and act as a subject matter expert in the forward-looking arena.
- Input to consultancy projects related to forecasting and/or other quantitative techniques.
- Author and/or co-author expert commentary and insightful thought pieces that position CBRE as a leading voice in the industry guiding transformational outcomes for investors and occupiers.
- Work closely with other economists and data scientists on research and development projects and continuous model improvement.
Required Qualifications
An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics, statistics, econometrics or a related discipline with a high numerical content. PhD students with commercial experience will be considered.
- Experience as an economist/forecaster (experience in quantitative analysis would be an advantage).
- Experience in property research in a consultancy, investment management, banking or finance would be an advantage but not critical.
· Strong organizational and analytical skills, able to demonstrate good time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, with multiple/competing deadlines.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills particularly in econometrics.
- Experience of using Eviews (or similar) and/or other statistical packages (e.g., STATA, R and Python would be an advantage).
- Experience of working with Tableau, PowerBI and other visualization software an advantage.
- A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English plus one other European language would be an advantage.
- Self-motivated, strong attention to detail and an ability to check own work.
