Cebr has exciting openings for economists who are available to start by mid March 2019. We are located in bustling EC1V, the heart of London’s Flat White Economy.

We have a huge variety of work with 150 big name clients enabling you to use economics expertise directly to inform real large-scale business and policy decisions.

Cebr is one of the leading economics consultancies in UK, well known for its objective analysis, its reports and its annual World Economic League Table. Come and join a friendly team of academically strong client-facing consultants within the team.

Required qualifications are:

  • Excellent academic background: Masters or very good Bachelors degree in economics
  • Excellent knowledge of macroeconomics and microeconomics
  • Experience of the UK economy highly desirable.
  • Native-level proficiency in English absolutely essential
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain economic concepts and quantitative results, as well as their implications, to non-specialists, in plain English for a business audience.
  • An ability to think originally and creatively in using economics to answer clients’ questions.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to going the extra mile to deliver robust, accurate work that stands up to scrutiny, within the constraints of available time and resources.
  • Pro-active, curious and willing to take the initiative in hunting down information and learning from previous projects and experiences.
  • Experience of project management and business experience – either as an in-house economist or working in another consultancy or think tank.
  • Proficiency in Excel.

Additional desirable characteristics would be:

  • Experience with quantitative analysis software such as Stata and Eviews.
  • Some knowledge of economic modelling techniques

These jobs provide a good opportunity to use econometric and data analysis skills.

The roles major on the following broad elements:

1. Delivering our products using technical and professional skills, expertise and experience. Economists are expected to have:

  • Competence in quantitative economic analysis using a variety of data;
  • A track record of successful quantitative project work and report-writing;
  • Ability to manipulate large datasets (hence need for proficiency with Excel).

2. Project management: through planning, diary management, monitoring and control, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget.

3. Business development & client relationship-building: building ongoing client relations that ensure customer satisfaction, repeat business and bringing in new clients.

4. Working collaboratively in a team

5. Business management: securing the company’s long term future; delivering high quality independent research; meeting stakeholders’ expectations; efficiency & integrity. Economists are expected to:

  • Conduct business in the best interests of Cebr
  • Know when to escalate decision-making

Salary/ benefits:

Competitive salary plus a generous bonus system which pays on both ‘sales’ and delivery of work. Autoenrolment in People’s Pension.
