Application Deadline

We are seeking an ambitious regulatory economist to join our expanding consultancy. You should have experience of working in economics consultancy, a regulated company, or a regulator. Experience gained in the water or energy industries would be an advantage. We also welcome applications from individuals with a range of experience beyond regulation, including competition and policy issues, so long as your background includes substantial regulatory work.

Since being founded in 2011, Economic Insight has grown rapidly, and we now advise on the most high profile economics issues across a range of sectors and have an enviable client list. Within our regulation practice, we advise companies and regulators on a range of issues such as: cost assessment and efficiency benchmarking; framework and incentive design; and financeability and the cost of capital. Our regulation clients are typically within the water, energy, telecoms, and transport sectors.

We are passionate about applying sound microeconomic principles to regulatory issues, and we are proud that our work is at the forefront of economic regulation – such as our involvement in recent CMA price control redeterminations. We seek innovative and creative solutions to our clients’ issues, and we also set ourselves apart by the level of care and attention to detail we give to everything we do.

Upon joining our team, you will be given high levels of responsibility in terms of both leading the delivery of projects as well as contributing to business development. On projects, you will scope out analysis, manage more junior members of staff, produce written outputs, and engage directly with clients at the most senior levels. In relation to business development, you will help write proposals, establish relationships with new clients, and represent the firm through conferences / published articles. You will also contribute to the ongoing management of the company, for example through supporting the development of colleagues and managing resources across projects.

We expect you will primarily work within our regulation practice, but we provide all staff the opportunity to benefit from the variety of working across the firm’s practice areas.

The successful candidate will be offered:

  • A competitive salary and bonus package
  • A bureaucracy free working environment
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Gym membership
  • Private health insurance
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • The opportunity for rapid career progression and to contribute to our future success

If you wish to be considered, please email a CV and cover letter to: jobs@economic-insight.com
