London: £74,000 - £83,000

Glasgow: £68,600 - £76,200

Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

The Network Price Control team is at the forefront of economic regulation, working to ensure that gas and electricity networks provide value to current and future consumers, and that the networks can evolve to facilitate the delivery of a low carbon economy. You will lead a team responsible for decisions on existing price control policy and for framing future price control policy, including RIIO2, exploring how we can accurately define price controls and remove uncertainties within company licenses. As the energy system is decarbonised, you will work with teams across Ofgem and within government, helping to shape and define the future role of gas networks.

Significant experience in economics is essential, gained either through a degree-level education or relevant experience. You must have strong policy-making skills, with the judgement and insight to analyse problems, develop innovative approaches and implement practical regulatory solutions. Proven leadership skills are vital. You must be able to motivate and develop a multi-disciplinary team, drive projects forward, communicate clearly and be a progressive, visible influence at senior levels. An understanding of the gas distribution sector and network regulation is highly desirable.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym
  • Interest free season ticket loan
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Perkbox (staff discount scheme)
  • Employee Wellbeing Programme.
