Our technology was born at the University of Oxford and built in partnership with the NHS, and has since raised over £20 million to help improve patient care, and bring diagnostic quality and resource savings to hospitals. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality, with an estimated 17 million deaths each year.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Health Economist to join our Clinical Research team to investigate resources needed within the Company to maintain optimal efficiency. Performing health economic analyses applying the theories of production, efficiency, disparities, regulation and competition, you will be responsible for investigating and instructing the team on the most equitable course of action to take the Company forwards. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing health economics support to Business Intelligence portfolios.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to data collection specifications for health economic aspects of research
  • Develop health economic analysis plans, undertake health economic analysis of data to inform model input and cost benefit
  • Develop model specifications, developing economic models, model variation and adaption of core models
  • Draft technical reports and the economic section of EchoGo submissions, drafting abstracts, posters and manuscripts
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on model methods, project progress and results and contribute to pitch presentations
  • Preparation of project timeliness, meeting agenda and minutes
  • Contribute to proposal writing if required
  • Research and contact investigators and health economic analyses users to guide effective use of data and analytic resources
  • Develop programme goals, study methods and data systems on Health programs
  • Conceive and direct research programs on health economic topics
  • Tailor final deliverables to meet UK HTA needs, via hands on approach, including development of budget impact analysis
  • Research prior appraisals to gain understanding of relevant considerations
  • Research potential opportunities to improve healthcare through research
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, scientists, statisticians, health professionals, and policy practitioners
  • Ability to plan and manage workload within tight deadlines and maintain high standards under pressure
  • Follow good information governance practice throughout this job role and ensure compliance with Ultromics' information security and data protection policies in all applicable assigned tasks

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree in maths, economics or statistics with health economics experience

Desirable

  • MSc in Health Economics

Skills and abilities

Essential

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in using R or Stata
  • Excellent communication and project management skills

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a technical modelling role
  • Experience of managing external suppliers
  • Experience in handling large, complex data sets
  • Experience of conducting analysis of real-world datasets
  • Experience of international settings, in particular the US Payor/Provider system.

Desirable

  • Experience in a venture capital-backed start-up

  • A high degree of written accuracy and great attention to detail
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
