Job Purpose/Responsibilities:

BlackRock’s Systematic Fixed Income team is seeking interns for the summer of 2021. The candidates will conduct summer research projects while working with our team of portfolio managers and researchers that manage all stages of the systematic investing process. The roles will be based in London.

Skills and experience:

• Exceptional quantitative academic background, at a Master’s level or above, in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematical Economics, Engineering or another technical discipline. We are particularly interested in candidates who are currently doing their Master’s degree and can work as summer interns while completing their thesis.
• Very strong knowledge of statistical modelling methods, including Machine Learning and Econometric techniques would be highly desired, as well as solid experience working with real-world data. A proven ability to come up with own creative ideas would be a strong plus.
• Strong programming skills in Python and knowledge of object-oriented programming.
• A passion for financial markets is essential, perhaps demonstrated through some practical experience of applying macroeconomic theory to investing problems. Similarly, theoretical or practical experience in systematic investing would be a plus.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
