Capital Economics is one of the world’s leading independent economic research companies. Our goal is to provide our clients with original, timely and insightful analysis supported by solid economic thinking. Samples of the sort of work that we produce can be found on our website.

We are looking for someone to join our markets team in London to contribute to our Global Markets and Capital Daily services.

Key responsibilities would be as follows:

  • Propose topics internally for our analysis of global markets.
  • Produce regular pieces of written analysis on bonds and equities, primarily in major developed economies.
  • Present our views of global markets to internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain and improve our existing spreadsheets covering the global markets.

Capital Economics is committed to equality, inclusion and diversity. We want to explore the widest pool of talent for this position and we particularly welcome applications from women and those from an ethnic minority background.

Requirements

The ideal candidate would have:

  • A strong academic background with, at least, a good undergraduate degree in economics or a closely related subject.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience producing research on bonds and equities.
  • The confidence to present the company’s views of global markets authoritatively.
  • Very strong writing skills. The hiring process would include a writing assessment.
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills with great attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

At Capital Economics, we are striving to create a diverse workforce and inclusive environment, which we believe are critical to help us make better decisions for the company, our employees and our clients. A diverse and inclusive workplace makes for more innovative, engaged and empowered employees, from whom business strength can be derived. This is particularly important in macroeconomic research, which relies on a diversity of views and opinions to be relevant and insightful.

Capital Economics is committed to equality, inclusion and diversity. We encourage applications from all candidates regardless of ethnicity, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or gender identity.
