The Department of Economics at the University of Manchester is a research-oriented department with a commitment to high-quality teaching. The Department is relatively large and has expertise across a wide range of areas of economics; it has a proud tradition in Development Economics (Sir Arthur Lewis, 1979 Nobel Laureate in Economics, was the Stanley Jevons Professor of Political Economy at Manchester from 1948 to 1957).
The Department is seeking to make a senior (Professorial) appointment in Development Economics to provide strategic leadership for our active and expanding group of early-career researchers in this field, and to further enhance our research profile in this area.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching activities at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, both directly via lecturing and/or tutoring in their own field and more broadly, but also in helping to develop the Department’s Development Economics portfolio at the course and programme level.
Applicants should have experience of delivering research-informed teaching at an institution of higher education or should be able to demonstrate the clear potential to do so.
The successful applicant will have some pastoral and administrative responsibilities and, above all, a commitment to academic integrity and collegiality.
To apply, please follow the link below. Please upload (i) a covering letter, (ii) your CV, and (iii) a sample of your recent research in the additional information field.
