The University of Leicester is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic as a Professor in Economics with first class academic leadership and management skills and an excellent track record in research. You will have an international research reputation and be expected to provide leadership in the area of Economics: developing research collaborations, attracting grant funding, attending and organising conferences and seminars, enhancing impact activity and the research profile of the School, commensurate with your level of seniority.
You will contribute and take a leading role in the delivery, development and coordination of the School’s undergraduate, postgraduate and distance learning curriculums as well as the supervision of postgraduate researchers. You will help drive the School’s impact and engagement agenda and will interact with business, the policymaking sector and/or other relevant stakeholders to help maximise the School’s contribution to societal and economic wellbeing.
You will be responsible to the Head of Department and Dean of ULSB and will provide leadership within the School whilst undertake research, scholarship, teaching and administration and other activities supporting the work of the School in line with the School strategy.
The successful candidate will join a department that has an international profile for its research across the broad areas of economics, with particular strengths in theoretical and applied microeconomics as well as macroeconomics and finance. You will work as part of a vibrant team alongside colleagues within the University of Leicester Business School (ULSB) and across the University, and will play a key role in the School’s continued success and future ambitions.
About you
With a PhD and an established international reputation as a scholar, you will be able to demonstrate research and teaching achievement in Economics. You will be able to evidence this through external grant capture, publications in peer reviewed journals and other relevant outputs.
With a track record of training and mentoring research students and experience of building effective collaborative relationships, you will have a clear future research plan and a commitment to high quality teaching, ensuring our students get the best experience possible.
