This full time post is available from 1 December 2019 on a fixed term basis until 31 March 2022.

Summary of the role

Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG) wishes to recruit a Research Fellow in Health Economics and Health Policy to support and lead health economics aspects of health technology assessment projects; project management and leadership.

You will support cost effectiveness-related aspects of HTA projects for NICE. This role will also include appraisal of health economic evaluations, including within-trial evaluations, and appraisal and manipulation of economic models, including identification of alternative inputs. You will have an important role in seeing the 'big picture' to identify and communicate key issues in economic evaluations that are likely to be of consequence to stakeholders and policy makers. In due course, you will be supported to undertake project management of HTAs alongside senior postholders in PenTAG.

You will have a role in joining and developing grants and publications relating to HTA across a range of topics, both clinically oriented and public health-oriented. Supported by senior postholders in PenTAG, you will develop an independent profile of publications in health economics and HTA.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in health technology assessment and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
