This is a fixed term appointment for 24 months in the first instance

The Care Policy and Evaluation Centre is a research centre at the LSE. Directed by Dr Jose-Luis Fernandez, CPEC undertakes research particularly in the areas of long-term care and mental health economics and policy. CPEC is seeking to appoint two full-time Research Officers to start as soon as possible.

The Research Officers will be expected to apply quantitative methods to a range of social care and mental health data to enhance evidence available for policy and practice evaluation of care systems. The role will involve extracting, manipulating and analysing quantitative data using different statistical and econometric modelling methods, contributing to the drafting of project reports and papers and to the dissemination of findings to a range of stakeholders, including funders, policy analysts and other academics.

The Research Officers will contribute to several research programmes within CPEC, and in particular to research from the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Adult Social Care (ASCRU) and the NIHR Policy Research Unit on the Economics of Health Care and the Interface with Social Care (ESHCRU II).

Candidates should have:

  • A Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as health services research, health policy or social policy, with quantitative methods training
  • A PhD, or be working towards completion of a PhD, or have other research experience that demonstrates the capacity to produce independent original research
  • Economic evaluation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate research findings effectively
  • Ability to manage own workload and work to tight timescales
