Experian's Analytics Group is seeking an experienced Senior Econometrician to join our Analytics Centre of Expertise to deliver the latest economic and credit market insight trends and forecasts to our clients.

Our analytics capabilities are always evolving and we are continually looking at how we can work in the most effective way. Therefore, senior econometricians joining the team need to drive our ambitious growth plans, support migration to a modern tech stack, lead deliveries of our analytical solutions to our clients and demonstrate a passion for continual improvement.

The Economics Team

The economist will join a group of 12 economists and econometricians working across a wide variety of economics and credit risk services and consultancy. This team specialises in model-driven forecasts and analysis for the UK’s economy, credit markets, regions, sectors and socio-demographic segments. Examples of the breadth of client projects recently undertaken include building loss forecasting models, concentration risk analysis, stress testing and running local area impact scenarios. Clients include first and second tier banking and financial services companies, commercial real estate, retail and public sector.

This team have a great track record for successful career development and establishing career pathways from Junior – Senior leadership. The team is headed up by Mohammed Chaudhri – Director of Market Intelligence. Mohammed joined Experian in 2014 as Senior Economist.

What you will be doing as Senior Econometrician

  • Working with our clients, Experian sales and market consultants to determine what the client wants to achieve
  • Designing solutions to client’s problems, leading new product developments
  • Building compelling solutions that resonate with clients and inform their decision makers
  • Regularly communicating verbally and in written reports solutions and business benefits to clients


Could this role be for you:

  • Ideally MSc or a strong degree in Economics, Econometrics or related discipline.
  • Significant Experience (circa 5+ years) in building econometric models using large datasets and producing model based forecasts & scenarios.
  • Experience in modelling climate risk and an understanding of the risks faced by lenders due to climate change would be an advantage.
  • Producing written research, methodology notes etc and presenting research to clients in a variety of contexts including conferences and meetings.
  • Proven experience of leading, shaping, and delivering high quality forecasting model development projects.
  • Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, personal drive/ambition and an agile, flexible approach.
  • Provide technical support & training to the team’s economists.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Advantageous to have experience working with R, Python or similar.
  • Familiarity with UK data and analysis of any of the following would be desirable: UK regions/local areas, credit markets and the housing market.
