  • Great opportunity for Australian based Economist to work in our Markets business in London
  • Seeking talented Economists with 5+ years markets experience

About the role

A contract opportunity exists for a talented Senior Economist with 5-10+ years’ industry experience to join our highly regarded Global Markets Research team in NAB’s London office. Here you'll work with the other members of NAB’s Australian and BNZ’s New Zealand research teams to support our Northern Hemisphere customers and NAB’s Sales and Trading businesses with research and analysis on the Australian and NZ economies and financial markets. The initial opportunity of a 2 year contract may be extended.

Based in NAB’s London dealing room, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Supporting NAB’s internal and external UK and European customers with economic services, including written research and face-to-face presentations on the Australian and NZ economies and markets;
  • Covering developments in the UK, European and US economies and markets for customers in Australia and NZ;
  • Working on a number of longer-term projects on the Australian economy, including on NAB and BNZ’s proprietary internal data;
  • Represent NAB at local industry forums, including delivering occasional speeches on the outlook for the Australian and/or NZ economies.

About you

To be considered for the position you will hold a degree in economics (honours or post graduate preferred) and have 5-10+ years’ experience working at senior levels in Economics. Experience at the RBA, the Commonwealth Treasury or an Australian State Treasury or similar financial institution analysing and forecasting Australian economic indicators would be highly regarded. Experience covering the NZ economy, while not essential, would be favourably regarded.

You will bring a strong knowledge of econometric modelling, combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders.

What we offer

This opportunity will give you exposure to a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of NAB’s northern hemisphere business, whilst being part of a highly-regarded team that is focused, hardworking and passionate about its shared vision to create the very best experience for our customers.

As the successful applicant you'll be provided with a competitive market salary, annual performance incentives, and a flexible working environment.

To be eligible to apply, you must have UK, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency status to work in the UK. Please only apply if you meet the above skills and experiences.

We embrace diversity of thought, style and working arrangements to ensure our workforce is representative of the community that we serve.
