The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the global standard setting, service providing and advocacy organization for the world’s airlines. This is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, highly leveraged to macroeconomic conditions, with a performance shaped by a wide range of policy and economic characteristics that make it of great interest to the microeconomist and strategist. We are an international team of economists with a range of backgrounds and nationalities.

You will be responsible for: analysis of airline industry profitability, cash flows and balance sheets and their drivers; monitoring and forecasting airline industry financial performance, analysis and monitoring of key supply chain costs; research into business models, market structures and other factors driving performance; regular publications on financial performance; communication with key players in the financial community and the media; engagement with CFOs and strategists in our member airlines; manage our Economics Advisory program with IATA Strategic Partners; and provide analysis to support advocacy.

You will have 5-10 years’ experience as an economist, financial analyst or management consultant, a Masters-level degree in economics, be highly numerate with modelling skills, a first class and experienced communicator, understand the worldwide business environment for the airline industry, and have an ability to work to tight deadlines and in a multi-cultural work environment. Experience of working in or with the airline industry would be desirable but not essential.
