Our Global Human Health (GHH) Division abides by a “patient first, profits later” ideology. The division is comprised of sales and marketing professionals who are passionate about their role in bringing our company's prescription medicines, vaccines, and other medical products to our
customers worldwide.

In order to support areas including Oncology, Vaccines, HIV, Immunology, Anti-Infectives and Diabetes, we are looking for a Health Technology Assessment and Outcomes Research (HTA & OR) Manager. The role will be office based and there will be close working with both the HTA&OR team as well as the relevant cross-functional brand team(s). The HTA & OR Team is responsible for gaining National Access and supporting local and regional access for our medicines, primarily by managing all submissions made to UK HTA Agencies (NICE, SMC, and AWMSG), as well as supporting the Irish business, the team develops submissions which apprise the agencies about the effectiveness, costs and broader impact of our new and existing medicines enabling decisions to be made around NHS resource allocation. The recommendations that these
agencies make are pivotal as to whether our drugs can be prescribed by physicians for those patients who would benefit from them. The team is made up of people who are either HTA & OR (health economists) or HTA & EBM (clinical data analysis/synthesis) by background.

The Team also plays a pivotal role in supporting marketing access strategies below the national level through the development of appropriate tools and resources.

Position overview:

The HTA & OR Manager is responsible for:

  • Accuracy, quality and timeliness of designated components of selected HTA submissions.
  • Ensuring alignment of submission strategy and content with local and global expectations/needs.
  • Identifying and resolving problems/issues related to prospective HTA submissions (e.g. modelling issues).
  • Working within a cross-functional matrix (medical, marketing, market access, external affairs) to optimise HTA submissions and associated stakeholder management.
  • Supervising contracted (internal or external) model development for HTA submissions &/or brand support.
  • Represent the company at HTA scoping and committee meetings
  • Liaising with relevant regional/global groups to exploit supranational resources and provide input.
  • Providing Country input into development of clinical (including trial design) and outcomes research plans for new products.
  • Working closely with franchise managers, regional sales managers and medical affairs personnel to ensure alignment within our company.
  • Providing technical input into relevant sections of a Clinical Guideline response, whether produced by an HTA agency or otherwise.
  • Mentoring of junior members of the team
  • Engaging with Industry groups and other external stakeholders where appropriate to contribute to the direction of travel for access and reimbursement



  • MSc in Health Economics or related discipline. (For non-UK applicants an equivalent qualification will be considered.)
  • A broad understanding of the NHS
  • Experience working for a Pharmaceutical company or consultancy
  • Solid experience in outcomes research / health economics experience

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Experience in leading and delivering on HTA submissions to NICE, SMC, AWMSG, NCPE.
  • Experience representing industry at HTA committee meetings, especially NICE
  • Project management
  • Excellent technical health economic skills (modelling), particularly in Microsoft Excel
