Are you interested in working for a world top 100 university?

The Department of Economics is seeking applications from ambitious, talented and highly motivated individuals who can make a leading contribution to research and teaching. We welcome applications from any area of economics, particularly scholars who have research specialisms in the areas of Finance/Trade/Macroeconomics.

We would like to hear from you if you can demonstrate innovative research and scholarship with an international reputation and a strong record of research publication. You will be expected to provide research leadership within your specialist areas and to contribute to academic leadership within the Department, the Faculty and the wider University.

You will hold a PhD in a relevant area (or have equivalent experience) with a proven teaching ability and evidence of sustained and continuing research performance. You should have experience of working effectively on a collaborative basis with a demonstrable interest in developing teaching and research.

This post is available from September 2019, with a start date that is negotiable by mutual agreement.

The Department of Economics has an international reputation for practical and real-world economics. Our researchers advise government departments in the UK and internationally. We are home to the Institute for Economic Analysis of Decision-making (InstEAD) and part of the national Centre for Vocational Education Research (CVER). In REF2014 100% of our research was deemed to be of an international standard, with 64% in the top two categories (i.e. 3* and 4*).

The Department of Economics is one of the largest departments in the Faculty with an ambition to grow further. We have a friendly, collegiate and culturally diverse team. We are an international department which currently comprises approximately 36 academics, 13 professional services staff, 30 PhD students as well as post-doctoral fellows and visiting academics.

We provide research-led economics teaching, exposing students to the latest developments in the discipline so they become critical thinkers, analytical problem solvers and independent researchers.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
