The Financial Services Competition Branch (FSCB) oversees competition in the financial services sector through targeted competition investigations and enforcement action and an ongoing program of market studies and advocacy.

As part of its enforcement function, the FSCB is responsible for taking enforcement action in relation to competition matters involving the financial services sector and supporting the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) in the prosecution of criminal cartel charges involving the financial services sector.

Role and Duties

We are recruiting now for a Senior Project Officer / Senior Investigator to join a team responsible for supporting the CDPP in relation to the prosecution of criminal cartel charges laid against a number of large financial services providers and their executives.

This role involves:

  • Working closely with the CDPP throughout the committal process and in preparation for trial;
  • Working closely with a team of investigators, legal advisers, economists and other specialists responsible for providing strategic and technical input into the case;
  • Assisting the CDPP with the management of witnesses and presentation of evidence for trial;
  • Ensuring high quality records management and effective reporting and communication with your managers; and
  • Supervising and developing staff more junior staff.
