Uber is about much more than getting a safe and reliable ride from A to B - we're transforming how people get around cities, think about car ownership and connect to public transport; positively impacting the daily lives of people who value independent and flexible work; and through Uber Eats we're helping people access their favourite meals, freshly prepared and conveniently delivered, as easy as a few taps of their smartphone.

Uber is licensed by over 60 local authorities across the UK. The public policy team is the conduit for Uber's public affairs and government relations across the UK, working with cross-functional colleagues to develop and execute strategies to respond to policy opportunities and regulatory challenges that impact on our business and our riders/partner drivers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead on Uber's public policy and engagement strategy for local government across the UK for the core Rides business (UberX etc) as well as our dockless electric bike-share scheme, JUMP, in London.
  • Be an active partner to the Rides, Eats and Jump businesses; working collaboratively with other teams including Cities, Regulatory Operations, Legal and Communications to provide strategic advice;
  • Co-ordinate across the 60+ local authorities where Uber is licensed in the UK
  • Raise awareness around Uber's contribution to local communities
  • Work hard but have a lot of fun doing it!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • At least 7 years' experience in local government or public policy, across complex policy areas or regulation ideally within the technology and/or transport sectors.
  • Deep knowledge of the remits and decision-making processes of local authorities, and how to build allies and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders and prioritise workload and activities
  • To be able to think on your feet and make quick decisions
  • Thrive in high impact/high profile situations
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Based in London, but a willingness to travel across the country

At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.
