Electricity Supply Board (ESB) was established in 1927 as a statutory corporation in the Republic of Ireland under the Electricity (Supply) Act 1927. With a holding of 95%, ESB is majority owned by the Irish Government. The remaining 5% is held by the trustees of an Employee Share Ownership Plan.
As a strong, diversified, vertically integrated utility, ESB operates right across the electricity market: from generation, through transmission and distribution to supply. In addition, ESB extracts further value at certain points along this chain: supplying gas, using our networks to carry fibre for telecommunications, developing electric vehicle public charging infrastructure and more.
ESB G&WM is Ireland’s leading power generator. We build, own, and operate power stations, as well as engaging in traded markets for fuel and for output. The Strategy and Regulation Group was established to provide strategic overview and direction for the group. This includes project delivery and ongoing research into identified energy issues. Within the Strategy and Regulation Group, there is a core managing regulatory issues of a technical, commercial or market nature.
The key objectives of this group are to:
- Manage the regulatory environment for ESB G&WM on regulatory matters, both commercial and operational in nature.
- Deal with key generation issues / consultations as they arise.
The team are seeking a Gas Market and Financial Regulation Specialist and Grid Code and Markets Specialist to support the group’s objectives outlined above. The specialists will focus on both technical aspects and market related activities as required, liaising with a variety of business stakeholders to ensure ESB G&WM’s commercial interests are protected.
