An exciting opportunity to be part of a team supporting the econometric analysis of the British Gas portfolio of products and services, helping to shape the business strategy, and improve the modelling capability.

The purpose of this role is to build econometric models to help with the understanding of the key drivers of sales and losses for British Gas and Hive which in turn will help lead to the increase in profitability of the business whilst ensuring we remaining committed to treating customers fairly.

The Role

Supporting the business to make the best possible decisions for us and our customers through the understanding gained from building detailed econometric models. Take control of the whole model building process, liaising with stakeholders from across the business to increase the accuracy of the models, discover new data sources and get the maximum impact with end user stakeholders.

  • Build and manage econometric models, taking control of the whole process from data collection to delivery to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that models are robust and effective.
  • To provide consultancy to the business on analytical and statistical techniques.
  • Ensure that the models are utilised appropriately and effectively.
  • Work with other members of the team to develop the modelling capability to improve efficiency and quality of output.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to determine needs and opportunities.
  • Engage with the wider insight team to share knowledge.

The Person

Educated to degree level in a numerate subject, the successful candidate will need to have excellent technical skills with knowledge of model building packages and be able to build and manage models efficiently, allied with a strong appreciation for the appropriate analytical / statistical techniques which can be employed to provide robust analyses at pace

Also important is the ability to take your natural curiosity about the data and turn this into something clear and concise for your audience using MS Office tools, working both independently and collaboratively at times. This will require excellent written / oral communication skills, well-rounded interpersonal skills and a great team-working ethic.

The successful candidate will have a strong can-do attitude and will show great enthusiasm, tenacity and desire for delivering strong output in a timely manner through effective planning and prioritisation.

The successful candidate with have experience using excel and modelling packages to manipulate data and building and maintaining an econometric model suite in a commercial environment. Experience using modelling to support a marketing function would be a plus, as would use of SAS and/or SQL.

Base Salary up to £50,000 plus excellent benefits including annual bonus and 25 days holiday
