DotEcon is an economic consultancy that assists governments, regulators and private firms around the world. We provide advice on high-profile public policy, competition and regulatory issues, design and implementation of auctions and other market mechanisms, demand modelling and forecasting, cost-benefit analysis and business strategy.

We are looking to fill a number of positions at the levels of Junior Consultant and Consultant.

Main duties

Tasks to be undertaken may include: literature review; gathering data; econometric and statistical analysis; building spreadsheet models; software testing; drafting sections of reports and presentations; assistance in preparation of tender responses. The work requires a good knowledge of microeconomics (industrial organisation, game theory and auction theory are particularly relevant to our work). Some work may require good mathematical skills and some programming experience would be advantageous.

Successful candidates will receive on-the-job training to broaden their skills, develop specialisms and move towards a greater role in project management and client engagement over time.

Qualifications and professional experience

For the position at the Consultant level

Successful candidates will ideally have a postgraduate degree in Economics with a specialism in Microeconomics and/or quantitative methods, and one to two years relevant experience working as professional economists.

Candidates should demonstrate in-depth knowledge in an applicable field of microeconomic consultancy. Evidence of concrete involvement across a range of consultancy projects with some client facing experience is ideally required.

For the position at the Junior Consultant level

Degree (Master's or Bachelor's) in Economics with a specialism in Microeconomics and/or quantitative methods. Candidates with only a first degree in Economics or a strongly mathematical subject (e.g. mathematics, statistics or econometrics) may be acceptable, but they need strong academic performance and to demonstrate commitment to on-the-job training to boost their microeconomic skills.
