Applications are invited for the post of Health Economist based in the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health, Blizard Institute, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. With over 150 staff, trainees and students, the Centre is one of the leading primary care, public health and health services research centres in the country, ranked 5th out of 32 in the 2014 REF. It hosts the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU), which is at the forefront of methodological and applied evaluative health research.
The post holder will join a growing team of health economists, led by Professor Borislava Mihaylova, the Chair of Health Economics. The Health Economist will develop a research portfolio in economic evaluation of healthcare technologies. We are looking for an experienced health economist to contribute to an existing portfolio of research and teaching and to develop new applied and methodological research questions in the area of economic evaluation of health interventions, disease modelling and outcome measurement and valuation to inform health care decisions that lead to improvements in population health. A higher degree in health economics or relevant subject (PhD/DPhil), research experience and evidence of peer-reviewed publications are essential.
This post is full-time (part-time applications will be considered) and fixed term for 2 years in the first instance. Starting salary will be in the range £36,677 to £43,152 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
