The Economics team at Schroders is responsible for tracking the world economy and providing an independent perspective on financial markets. Alongside cyclical analysis, longer term research is an important part of the team’s output. The team’s views are used directly by portfolio managers and analysts and in communication with clients through conferences and regular publications. The Economics team’s central role means that there is widespread interaction with the rest of Schroders.

Role and qualifications

The person in this role would be expected to help the team perform these duties through working closely with investors on analysis of the economic cycle and markets. They would be expected to maintain the team’s independent models and communicate the implications to the Multi-asset team and other investors such as the private bank, DIU, equities and FI, as well as clients. Responsibility would also include production of the quarterly Global Market Perspective in co-operation with the Chief economist and team. In addition, the person in this role would be expected to assist the team in meeting client requests and deadlines.

The right candidate will have a strong economics background with a post graduate qualification and will be familiar with quantitative techniques. An interest in financial markets and good writing and communication skills are essential as well as an ability to work with a range of teams. They will probably already have some work experience in either a public or private sector institution.
