The Chair of Labor Economics and New Political Economy (Prof. Christina Gathmann, Ph.D.) at the University of Heidelberg is looking for a postdoc in economics. Our team does research on human capital, education, migration, inequality, local labor markets and political economy using cutting-edge empirical methods. Among others, we evaluate the consequences of government interventions in the labor market, the impact of immigration, regional or family policies. We are part of a young and dynamic group of empirical researchers in the Department of Economics at the University of Heidelberg.

Candidates for a Postdoctoral position should hold a PhD in economics or a related discipline combined with an excellent record in econometrics and empirical microeconomics. Successful applicants have a strong interest in labor markets and micro-econometrics plus ideally some prior experience of working with large data sets. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German is a definite plus.

The starting date of the full-time position is flexible but should be no later than in the spring of 2020. The salary is set in accordance with the German public sector scale TV-L (E 13) at 100% for up to 3 years initially. The University of Heidelberg is an equal opportunity employer and we especially encourage qualified women to apply.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a sample of written work, a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of degree certificates, and two academic letters of recommendation.

Please apply by October 1, 2019 by sending your application material with the subject heading “Application Postdoctoral Position” to Sabine Morawa (sabine.morawa@awi.uni-heidelberg.de). We will start reviewing applications on September 1, 2019.
