Application Deadline

BUSINESSEUROPE seeks to fill the following position:

Director for its Economics Department

You are a dynamic economist tempted by a new challenge? You are interested in working for a strong brand? You think that the voice of European business has to be heard throughout Europe? You are excited by the enormous potential lying in the network of BUSINESSEUROPE and its 42 member federations from 36 European countries? You want to join a dynamic team working for the future of jobs and wealth in Europe?

Then you could be the new Director of our economics department, a position providing a unique exposure to the EU policy debate on economic and financial affairs.

The successful candidate will be in charge of steering BUSINESSEUROPE’s work on economic and financial affairs. He/she will develop BUSINESSEUROPE’s positions on macroeconomic policies, structural and financial market reforms, economic governance and crisis management, taxation, the EU budget and EU regional policies.

He/she will coordinate the work of BUSINESSEUROPE’s Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, regrouping the chief economists of all its member federations, will devise and implement advocacy actions on relevant EU policy measures, will represent BUSINESSEUROPE at international meetings, will be in contact with the media, and will organise seminars and conferences.

Leading a small team of young economists, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong capacity to communicate, plan complex work processes, provide accurate economic analysis and manage human resources.

Candidates for this post should have:

  • at least 8 years of relevant professional experience;
  • a university degree in economics and excellent economic analysis skills;
  • good knowledge of EU economic policy issues and good understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions;
  • excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. A good knowledge of other European languages is an asset;
  • a convincing and outgoing personality, at ease with people of different nationalities and conscious of the many socio-cultural differences that characterize Europe;
  • the ability to translate complex issues into clear messages;
  • the ability to manage/coordinate advocacy campaigns and to make things happen, not only handling the creative and conceptual sides of the job but also performing hands on.

Closing date for applications: 20 June 2024

Interested candidates are invited to send a letter of application and full curriculum vitae to Magali Janson, Human Resources Manager, at m.janson@businesseurope.eu
