Economic Consultant (Prague)

Organisation
Frontier Economics
Locations

Prague, Czechia

Application Deadline

Frontier Economics is an economics consultancy that tackles the big questions facing governments, businesses and society. We help our clients to analyse and understand their markets and to formulate strategies based on sound economics. The methods and models we use are often complex, but our advice is always succinct, clear and honest

At Frontier Economics, being an Economic Consultant means more than just rigorous analysis and impactful advice—it also means working in a collaborative, supportive environment where curiosity is encouraged and having fun is part of the culture.

We’re very excited to have recently opened a new office in Prague, which will allow us to work even more closely with our clients in Central Europe. We’re looking for talented and entrepreneurial economists to take on the exciting opportunity of playing an active role in further growing Frontier’s presence in the region from the start.

We are particularly keen to find a strong generalist economist with an interest in competition and disputes. Experience in energy or telecoms would be a plus, but it is not essential.

Job Description

Our Consultants play a central role in delivering value to our clients. You’ll apply your analytical skills and economic expertise to transform complex data into clear, meaningful insights and provide advice that has real impact. This includes designing frameworks, interpreting results, and contributing innovative ideas that address clients’ most pressing challenges.

As a Consultant, you’ll take responsibility for substantial workstreams, planning, managing, and delivering tasks effectively, with support from project managers. You’ll also play an important part in developing others by sharing your knowledge, offering constructive feedback, and helping colleagues to grow.

For this opportunity in Prague, you’ll also have the chance to shape and grow our newest office. You’ll take an active role in building Frontier’s presence in Central Europe, strengthening relationships with existing clients, developing new ones, and contributing to the growth of the local team. You’ll be fully connected to the wider Frontier network, with opportunities to collaborate and travel across our other European offices.

Consultants are expected to demonstrate the following competencies:

Analysis and Problem solving:

  • Scope and deliver a variety of projects; applying theoretical knowledge and techniques to provide valuable client insights.
  • Oversee and integrate work from multiple team members, ensuring quality and coherence in final outputs.
  • Train and mentor colleagues in advanced technical approaches, delegating tasks effectively.

Communication skills:

  • Lead various types of meetings whilst considering different perspectives, listening actively and appropriately challenging ideas.
  • Structure, review and edit client outputs.
  • Provide feedback and on-the-job training on all aspects of writing and presentation.
  • Able to anticipate and address communication issues, both within the team and with clients.

Work management skills:

  • Scope and lead substantial workstreams, demonstrating good project management skills throughout the project life cycle.
  • Pro-actively manage scope and deliverables jointly with the client, with support from project managers.
  • Delegate tasks and supervise colleagues on workstreams, ensuring they are motivated and aware of wider project and client expectations.
  • Seek and respond to feedback from colleagues and clients.

Client relationships skills:

  • Understand clients’ needs on projects and ensuring they get the most value from our work
  • Build relationships beyond day to day projects, networking regularly and appropriately with clients and other contacts.
  • Seek formal and informal feedback for the workstream and respond accordingly.

Essential requirements:

  • Several years of experience at an economics consultancy or regulator.
  • Excellent communication skills. This role involves regular communication with Czech and Slovak speaking clients and/or the creation of Czech or Slovak materials. Therefore, fluent level Czech or Slovak (C2 level or equivalent) is required.
  • Strong project management skills; able to motivate teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Commercial awareness and good judgement to identify practical, value-adding solutions.
  • Strong data skills, with the ability to interrogate information and generate useful insights.
  • We shall also consider applicants that meet the requirements above but who have a preference to be based in one of Frontier’s other offices.

At Frontier Economics, we are entirely employee-owned, meaning every team member has a voice in shaping the company’s future. Our collaborative culture encourages innovation, open dialogue, and shared success. Our stimulating and thought-provoking projects are complemented by a supportive and dynamic work environment, designed to help you thrive and grow. We also offer:

  • Hybrid Working: Employees are expected to work in the office at least two days a week, with flexibility for remote work.
