Application Deadline

Flint Global is looking to recruit managers and consultants into its Competition and Regulation team in London.

The team uses its experience and knowledge of regulatory and competition economics and their practical application to support companies and investors on a broad range of complex issues. For example, we help our clients:

  • manage competition, policy and regulatory concerns that arise from major transactions;
  • understand and address the impact of economic regulation and regulation-related legislation on their businesses;
  • navigate major competition or regulatory investigations through the development of credible arguments and robust evidence;
  • develop and implement regulatory engagement strategies; and
  • make significant strategic and organisational decisions.

Managers and consultants at Flint drive the delivery of client work. You will advise clients on the approach that they should take to their most strategically important regulatory and competition challenges. You will bring a strong understanding of competition economics, competition policy, and/or economic regulation and its application. You will also be able to think strategically and work with other colleagues to situate our advice within the wider policy, political and commercial landscape.

Working at Flint, you will have opportunities to get direct exposure to clients at the most senior levels and across a wide range of sectors. You will have the opportunity to work on a mix of ‘pure’ Competition and Regulation projects, and as a competition or regulatory expert on multi-disciplinary teams with colleagues from across Flint’s practice areas (including Policy and Political Analysis, Markets and Investor Advisory, and Flint’s international teams).

You will also have opportunities to develop your skillset in client and project management, strategic business development and research methods.

There is significant scope for career progression.

What we are looking for

We are looking for both consultants and managers. Consultants typically have around two to five years’ experience; managers up to eight or nine. Typically you will have gained your experience in an economic regulator, a competition authority, a government department, a consultancy, an investor or a regulated company. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a mix of this experience, but it is not essential. We are also particularly interested in candidates with experience in communications markets.

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience of competition economics, economic policy and / or economic regulation
  • ‘Second nature’ understanding of economic principles, and ability to apply them in the real world
  • Recognition that economics is only part of the answer to complex strategic regulatory and policy decisions, and the ability to synthesise economics with other considerations
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, research and problem-solving skills and the ability to draw out the implications of evidence and analysis to give clear advice
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues to non-specialists clearly and concisely
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills – with both internal colleagues and external clients
  • An ability to understand both the business and the public sector perspective
  • A degree (or higher) in economics or a related discipline

Desirable criteria

While not essential, we would especially welcome people with knowledge or experience of any of the following sectors:

  • Telecoms
  • Tech
  • Financial Services
  • Water
  • Energy
  • Transport
  • Sport

To Apply

Please submit your CV along with a short (one page) covering letter, setting out why you would be well-suited for one of these roles, and your motivation for applying.

We encourage candidates to apply as soon as possible as interviews may be held on a rolling basis, potentially before the closing date.
