We’re very excited to have recently opened a new office in Amsterdam to enable us to work even more closely with our clients in the Netherlands. We’re looking for talented and entrepreneurial economists to take on the exciting and unique opportunity to play an active role in further growing Frontier’s presence in the Netherlands from the start. 

Competition practice at Frontier

We help our clients navigate complex competition cases before the European Commission, national competition authorities, and in front of courts across Europe. Our work spans the entire spectrum of competition cases, from merger control and market studies through to antitrust and digital regulation challenges as well as litigation matters. Working closely with clients, we combine clear strategic advice with rigorous economic analysis and fresh thinking. Job Description

Our Consultants play a key role in supporting our clients in competition-related matters. You’ll use your analytical skills and economic expertise to turn data into meaningful insights and deliver work that has real impact. You will design frameworks, interpret results, and contribute fresh ideas that address clients’ needs.

In addition, you’ll be part of an exciting opportunity to further grow Frontier’s presence in the Netherlands. You’ll take on an active role in strengthening our existing relationships with clients as well as building new ones. You’ll also travel to our other offices to ensure you’re fully integrated into the wider Frontier network.

As a Consultant, you’ll take ownership of significant workstreams and manage tasks effectively with support from project managers. You’ll also support the growth of others by sharing your knowledge and providing constructive feedback.

Consultants are expected to demonstrate the following competencies:

Analysis and Problem solving:

  • Scope and deliver a variety of projects; applying theoretical knowledge and techniques to provide valuable client insights.
  • Oversee and integrate work from multiple team members, ensuring quality and coherence in final outputs.
  • Train and mentor colleagues in advanced technical approaches, delegating tasks effectively.

Communication skills: 

  • Lead various types of meetings whilst considering different perspectives, listening actively and appropriately challenging ideas.
  • Structure, review and edit client outputs.  
  • Provide feedback and on-the-job training on all aspects of writing and presentation.
  • Able to anticipate and address communication issues, both within the team and with clients.

Work management skills: 

  • Scope and lead substantial workstreams, demonstrating good project management skills throughout the project life cycle.
  • Pro-actively manage scope and deliverables jointly with the client, with support from project managers.
  • Delegate tasks and supervise colleagues on workstreams, ensuring they are motivated and aware of wider project and client expectations.
  • Seek and respond to feedback from colleagues and clients.

Client relationships skills: 

  • Understand clients’ needs on projects and ensuring they get the most value from our work
  • Build relationships beyond day to day projects, networking regularly and appropriately with clients and other contacts.
  • Seek formal and informal feedback for the workstream and respond accordingly.

Essential requirements:

  • Expertise in Competition Economics, with several years of experience at an economics consultancy or regulator.
  • Excellent communication skills. This role involves regular communication with Dutch-speaking clients and/or the creation of Dutch-language materials. Therefore, fluent level Dutch (C2 level or equivalent) is required.
  • Strong project management skills; able to motivate teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Commercial awareness and good judgement to identify practical, value-adding solutions.
  • Strong data skills, with the ability to interrogate information and generate useful insights.
  • We shall also consider applicants that meet the requirements above but who have a preference to be based in one of Frontier’s other offices.
