Ofgem is working at the forefront of the fight to combat the challenges of delivering a secure, low-carbon energy system, driving forward the infrastructure that will power Britain’s Net Zero future. We’re looking for a Senior Analyst to join us and shape critical investment decisions that will define how the energy system operates for decades to come.
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.
We’re offering a permanent opportunity to play a central role in one of the most strategically important programmes in the GB energy system. This is a high-impact position within the Long Duration Electricity Storage (LDES) programme, where your work will directly influence nationally significant infrastructure investment and the future resilience of the electricity system. You’ll help translate ambitious policy into real-world delivery, ensuring decisions are robust, evidence-based and deliver long-term value for consumers.
Working at the intersection of economics, finance and regulation, you’ll shape how major projects are assessed and selected, influencing how the system responds to the growing need for flexibility in a renewables-led future. This is a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment where decisions carry real weight and visibility across government, industry and senior leadership.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team working across complex challenges, helping to ensure that infrastructure developed today meets future system needs. From advising on live project applications to supporting the evolution of frameworks that will guide long-term investment, your work will play a key role in enabling a secure and affordable transition.
Job Description
We’re looking for someone with strong economic or financial analytical expertise, with experience supporting major investment or policy decisions, alongside the ability to interpret complex evidence and provide clear, well-reasoned advice. You’ll be comfortable leading workstreams, working across disciplines and operating in a high-profile delivery environment.
In return, you’ll join a supportive and intellectually curious team at the centre of major infrastructure decisions, working alongside experts across economics, engineering, finance and policy. This is an engaging and rewarding environment where collaboration, pace and impact are at the heart of everything we do.
We have a critical purpose to deliver long-duration electricity storage, enabling a resilient, flexible energy system while combating reliance on fossil fuels. Join us and play a critical role in supporting a secure transition to Net Zero.
