Job Summary
Ofgem is seeking five Senior Policy Leads to shape the future of energy system planning and drive progress towards our Clean Power 2030 mission. In these pivotal roles, candidates will lead policy development and analysis, working across our organisation to deliver solutions that will shape the energy system.

These are permanent opportunities to influence the future design and delivery of the energy system. The successful candidates will be deployed within the Strategic Planning and Connections portfolio of our Energy Systems Design and Development Directorate, across four different teams. Each team plays a central role in establishing effective energy system planning and ensuring Ofgem adapts to a new, strategically co-ordinated approach to regulation. It’s a chance to make a tangible impact on how energy infrastructure is planned, connected, and governed.

Person specification
Essential
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage constructively and transparently with internal and external stakeholders, and to clearly convey complex issues to non-expert audiences. (LEAD)
- Proven experience and strong skills in policy development, including: identifying, analysing, and articulating complex problems; working with analytical, technical, and legal professionals to develop solutions and options; and presenting policy recommendations that consider the trade-offs and risks, and dependencies that help senior colleagues reach a decision.
- Good project management skills with demonstrable experience of delivery in fast paced environment;
- Knowledge or experience of the energy sector.
Desirable
- Experience of people management, either directly or in a matrix working environment.
- Knowledge or experience of energy system planning and/or energy regulation.
