As a Finance Analyst, you’ll be at the heart of financial planning and performance, using your analytical skills to interpret complex data and deliver clear, actionable insights. You’ll produce monthly financial reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders, support the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts, and contribute to the preparation of management accounts. Your work will help identify financial risks and opportunities, ensuring robust decision-making across the organisation.
You’ll also play a vital role in financial business partnering, working closely with budget holders to improve financial understanding and drive efficiency. From attending meetings and capturing actions to maintaining financial models and supporting audit responses, your contributions will be varied, impactful, and highly valued. Key responsibilities
- Assist the Finance Business Partner in preparing monthly financial reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
- Support the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans across business units.
- Help analyse financial performance against budget, identifying risks, opportunities, and trends.
- Attend budget holder meetings with the FBP to capture actions, follow up on queries, and support financial understanding.
- Maintain and update financial models and templates used by the FBP team.
- Support the implementation of financial controls and compliance with Ofgem policies eg Travel, Expenses.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, pre-payments and journals.
- Lead financial business partnering for a designated business directorate,
Key Outputs and Deliverables
- Production of Monthly finance and performance dashboards, working closely with management accounts team and FBPs.
- Updating of financial forecasts on monthly basis using standardised tools and methodology.
- Validating Data through monthly/adhoc reconciliation and supporting on responses for audit.
- Supporting on developing detailed business plans in collaboration with FBPs, incorporating workforce, efficiency plans.
- Delivering insightful analysis on financial performance, risks & opportunities.
Key Skills and Capabilities
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial systems eg power BI.
- Strong influencing skills to provide to and support to stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain financial issues to non-specialists.
- Strong grasp of financial governance, audit processes, and internal controls.

Role Criteria
Essential:
- You will be AAT qualified or actively studying towards a professional qualification or substantial practical experience in a similar role. (Lead)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively. (Lead)
- Ability to clearly communicate financial data to wide range of stakeholders including those with little financial experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills with experience collaborating with stakeholders.
- Strong skills in range of MS packages.
Desirable:
- Understanding of managing public money and public sector financial governance.
