Job Summary
The energy system of the future will require a very different approach to regulation than the one we know today. At Ofgem, we’re seeking a Senior Policy Lead to help shape how energy networks are regulated beyond 2031.

We’re offering a permanent opportunity within our Network Price Controls directorate, joining our Future Frameworks area at an early and formative stage of development. This is a forward-looking area of work focused on how gas and electricity networks will need to adapt in the years ahead, and how regulation must respond to changing technologies, consumer expectations, system risks and network roles.

Job Description
Working across policy, analysis, legal and technical disciplines, you’ll help develop robust options for future regulatory approaches, engaging with senior stakeholders across Ofgem and the wider sector, and helping shape discussions on the future of energy network regulation.

- Experience of policy development relating to energy networks, price controls, or the RIIO framework (LEAD)
- Relevant policy skills in identifying, analysing, and articulating complex problems; working with other professionals (for example analytical, technical, and legal) to develop solutions and options, and presenting policy recommendations that consider the trade-offs, risks, and dependencies to aid effective decision making (LEAD)
- Managing delivery: ability to set clear goals and priorities, support others to solve problems, overcome challenges, and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex evidence, interdependencies and strategic fit of policy work both internally and externally
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills, including experience engaging regulated entities and working effectively across a large organisation with senior stakeholders.
